The President of Cascadia Community College has responsibility for the overall leadership of and vision for the college, as well as fund raising and advocacy for the college with the state legislature, the community, and other external constituents.
The President of Cascadia Community College is responsible for maintaining a strong collegial environment that embraces shared governance and collaborative problem solving. The President will have the skills to manage college growth to meet community and student needs. By fostering the growth and strength of partnerships with local businesses, the new President will enable the creation of additional innovative and collaborative professional technical programs.
Development responsibilities will increasingly include the identification and securing of additional financial resources from a range of outside funding sources to supplement state funding, and deepening ties with the community, local, state, and federal governments. Reflecting Cascadia’s core value of environmental stewardship, the President will work to expand the college’s engagement in and focus on sustainable practices and programs.
The President will continue Cascadia’s emphasis on global awareness and expand the college’s International Education program. By nurturing a learning college environment that actively promotes diversity, values and supports innovative teaching and learning strategies, and furthers the college’s core values, the President will provide the needed visionary leadership to take Cascadia into the future.
Qualifications The position requires an earned doctorate from an accredited institution and administrative or teaching experience in higher education. In addition, the President of Cascadia Community College will be a person who:
•Provides leadership to a learning college that is committed to being student-centered, innovative, environmentally and globally aware, and diverse. •Emphasizes excellence in teaching and learning. •Demonstrates commitment and experience with shared governance. •Demonstrates success in working with a Board of Trustees. •Has the ability to integrate data driven planning and assessment processes to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of college programs and services. •Has a demonstrated record of being fiscally responsible and an effective resource manager. •Demonstrates success in generating alternative sources of revenue and will provide innovative resource development leadership. •Demonstrates success in collaborating and working with leaders in higher education, the community, and business at the local, state, and regional level. •Has the ability to be a persuasive, effective, and politically sophisticated advocate for the college in the community, with the state legislature, and other state organizations. •Understands the need for raising the visibility of a relatively young, still developing community college and will be an effective ambassador for the college. •Has successful collaborative experience in labor, employment relations, and collective bargaining. •Is an open and effective communicator who understands the need to assure healthy communications throughout the college.
