This position reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students and serves as a member of the senior management team for the division of student affairs. The Associate Dean/Director of the Pugh Center is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Colby’s diversity efforts as they relate to students and student life. Additionally, will work collaboratively to produce a vibrant set of academic, cultural, and social programs that promote intercultural communication and foster an inclusive campus climate, work with admissions to support multicultural recruitment efforts, and serve as one of five advising deans. S/He also serves on the student affairs management team, playing a central role in the ongoing development and implementation of the College’s newly adopted strategic plan for student life, Colby 360.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required, master's or doctoral degree strongly preferred, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies including but not limited to students, faculty, administrators, parents, and alumni. The successful candidate will have the skills required to develop, articulate, and implement a strategic approach to achieve the mission of the Pugh Center for diversity, and for participating in the ongoing development and implementation of the strategic plan for student life. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, supervisory ability, and the capacity to undertake multiple assignments are essential. Prior relevant experience in a liberal arts college or comparable setting is highly desirable.
