Job Details Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include a Masters Degree; prior experience at a community college, preferred teaching, or university setting in a related instructional area; proven experience in an administrative or managerial role; proven leadership capabilities; the ability to be a team player; proven ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels; and excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to develop a three-year budget; initiate training partnership agreements with outside agencies; assist in the development of customized training programs for businesses; the ability to formulate strategies to recruit and retain students; and resourcefulness and effective interpersonal skills. Experience in grant development a plus. This position also requires the following attributes: ability to function effectively with multiple priorities; ability to be well organized and demonstrate effective time management; flexibility and creativity; track record of proven contributions and accomplishments; and ability to be an effective decision maker and creative problem solver. The ability to administer, promote and market a variety of Business Technology programs, proven success in new course and faculty development, experience in program building, and experience in co-curricular student activities is preferred. An earned doctorate in a related field is also preferred. Experience in all areas of Baccalaureate development including accreditation and expansion. Understanding of Business incubator a plus.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: providing leadership to the Business Technology Division in the areas of administration, management, supervision, budget preparation, evaluation, training, and staff development. This position is also responsible as a resource to the business sector of the community by assessing educational needs, ensuring contemporary training partnership agreements, and by representing the College at appropriate professional and civic meetings.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Applied Science and Technology.
2. Responsible for the administration of programs in Business Administration and Marketing, Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Organizational Management, Accounting Technology, Financial Services, Agriculture Production Technology, Professional Career Development Program, and Summer Youth programs.
3. Functioning as the administrator responsible for the IRSC Professional Career Development Program.
4. Developing, with department chairs and Provosts, each semesters divisional schedule of courses.
5. Responsible for promoting and marketing courses and programs.
6. Supporting co-curricular student activities and initiating faculty development activities.
7. Administering course and program content, selecting instructors, quality of instruction, text and material selection, course syllabi, instructor evaluation, and interaction with advisory committees.
8. Assigning departmental responsibility for courses.
9. Determining qualifications for all full and part-time instructors within the Division and working with faculty to create individualized professional developmental plans which support discipline specific instruction.
10. Originating documentation for instructor and instructional aide appointments, changes in status, department chair assignments, certifications, overload pay, travel, and requests for additional personnel.
11. Originating paperwork requesting entry and deletion of classes within registration system and documentation on classes concerning instructor, class size, etc.
12. Coordinating submission to curriculum committee of documentation for courses and for programs as well as assisting with updating of the College catalog.
13. Administering the development of three-year budget planning for all divisional departments and assuring expenditure of funds are consistent with this planning.
14. Initiating training partnership agreements with outside agencies and assisting in the development of customized training programs for business and industry.
15. Promoting submission of grant applications and administering resulting grants.
16. Originating, through department chairpersons, applications for technical certificates and assisting, through department chairpersons, in the collection of placement data for certificate recipients.
17. Serving as a resource to the business and industrial sector by assessing educational needs and ensuring contemporary instructional offerings are in place and providing direction for virtual incubator.
18. Representing the College at appropriate professional and civic meetings.
19. Monitoring grade distributions of all divisional faculty in his or her area of instruction and reviewing with faculty as appropriate.
20. Working with College instructional administrators and faculty to develop and implement programs and courses appropriate to the needs of the counties and mission and goals of the College.
21. Work cooperatively with the Corporate and Community Training Institute (CCTI) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to establish, management, and grow the college’s virtual business incubator.
22. Performing other duties and assuming other responsibilities the Vice President of Applied Science & Technology may direct.


Essential Physical Skills:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
